G450X – that’s "G" for "Guy"

Guy Giroux, one of Canada’s best off-road riders, has signed with BMW Motorrad Canada to contest the new 2009 Canadian Enduro Championship series on BMW’s G450X Enduro

Giroux, who lives in St-Hippolyte, Quebec, sports an incredible off-road resumé: 16 Quebec off-road titles, two Quebec Supermoto titles, three national off-road championships (plus four seconds), bronze and gold medals from the ISDE, and a finishing position in the 2002 Paris-Dakar Rally.

"I’m pumped! This is an incredible challenge for me," said Giroux. Chris Duff, marketing and race team manager for BMW Motorrad Canada, adds, "Guy … is an off-road racing icon in Canada and we’re confident that he will put the G450X in a podium position every time out on the bike."

The Canadian Enduro Championship (CEC) is brand-new to Canada and has been created under the auspices of World Enduro Canada (WEC), the umbrella organization for Canadian enduro off-road motorcycle competition.

The inaugural 2009 CEC series runs on a four-event, eight-race schedule: July 4 & 5 2009 – Blairmore, Alberta; July 11 & 12 – Okanagan Valley, British Columbia; September 12 & 13 – Labelle, Quebec; September 19 & 20 – Parry Sound, Ontario.
