Availability, MSRP for Ducati SuperSport announced

Ducati has announced the Canadian availability and MSRP for the new SuperSport.

Unveiled at the Intermot show last week, the SuperSport brings Ducati away from the cutting edge of superbike design, and heads more in the direction of sport-touring — it’s a more sensible sportbike.

According to the company’s North American PR manager, the SuperSport will see its first deliveries in April. MSRP for the SuperSport will be $13,995 (plus applicable taxes and fees). The SuperSport S model will start at $15,495, plus taxes and fees.

  1. Pricing in the US is $14,795 USD (not that far from 20K Canadian) for the S model, at $15,495 CAD this looks like a pretty good deal in Canada.

  2. Base price is $4 less than a 2016 Ninja 1000, probably its closest competitor. Insurance will be an issue. Companies have deemed the Ninja 1000 to be a Super Sport because it has a fairing and the “Ninja” designation. The Ducati even has “Supersport” in its name, so good luck trying to convince some adjuster who has never ridden, that it is not exactly what it says it is!

    • I think the closest competitor is the Honda VFR 800 which power, ergonomics and looks are similar but does not have Ohlin suspensions (not even inverted fork), no ride by wire, no Brembo brakes and weights 70 pounds more! The Duc has up AND down quickshifter, etc…

In fact this bike seems a lot like what Honda fans would have liked the VFR to be!

      • Probably ones of the reasons the VFR is no longer for sale since 2015 in Canada. I have one (a 2014 model) that I bough NEW in 2016. Although the MSRP was the same as this Duc, I (as well as many others) were able to pick up the VFR for around $10K (I paid LESS than that). I too though the Duc would have been $20K CAD. I am amazed they are offerring this level of quality parts for this price in Canada. But keep in mind that where as the Duc is very aggressively and competitively priced, the VFR was WAAAAAY overpriced and suffered in North America…

  3. That’s a nice looking bike, looking forward to seeing it compared to the VFR800. Especially considering that they’ll be a touring version of it with bags. But I’m worried most insurers will see it as a supersport and rate it no differently than a Panagale, unlike the VFR.
