Michael Dunlop to Milwaukee Yamaha team for IOMTT

With news that Guy Martin is piloting a BMW and John McGuinness/Conor Cummins are sticking with Honda, we also know Michael Dunlop’s plans for the 2015 Isle of Man TT: He’s going to ride a Yamaha.

Yesterday, the IOMTT press office told the world Dunlop had signed with Milwaukee Yamaha. He’ll ride the new R1 at the TT next year, not the R1M, and this year’s races could prove to be one of the best proving grounds for the new Yamaha superbike. Dunlop will ride the Yamaha in the Superbike and Senior TT , along with the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix races.

Dunlop has 11 TT wins to date, and has the fastest-ever start lap around the Mountain Course, at 131.890 mph (set in 2014).

“I’ve gone on record as saying that I’ll only race if the package is right and in the Milwaukee Yamaha team I’m confident in both the bike and the support team that will be in place,” Dunlop said. “We’ve already had a look at the bike that I’ll be riding and the early indications are really good but I’m looking forward just to getting out on the track and testing it properly.”

Josh Brookes and Ian Hutchinson rode for Milwaukee Yamaha in 2014.
