Marquez is moving to Moto2.

Of course, we’re talking about Moto3 racer Alex Marquez; his older brother Marc already served his time in the trenches of Moto2, showing everyone he had what it took to win races. Now, unless something goes terribly awry, Marc’s on track to win his second world championship, only missing the podium once this year.

You can bet Marc VDS Racing is hoping they’ll see similar results from his younger brother. They signed Alex to a two-year deal; he’ll ride beside Tito Rabat next season.

“I have been working hard to be here and I want to thank the Marc VDS Racing Team for their trust in me,” said the younger Marquez. “But now it’s time to focus on Moto3, we are in the most important moment of the season and our mission is to fight for the championship.”

“He is not afraid of hard work and that will stand him in good stead when he starts the transition from the Honda Moto3 machine he races now to the Kalex Moto2 bike that he’ll race for the next two years,” said team president Marc van der Straten. “I am looking forward to Alex joining us and I am confident that with the help of the team he will soon establish himself as a title contender in Moto2.”
