John McGuinness didn’t perform as well at the Isle of Man TT this year, due to nagging injuries after a training accident. However, he did win the TT Zero electric race, and captured it on video.
Every year, electric bikes put in a more impressive performance at the Isle of Man; some crotchety fans aren’t happy with them, but not only do are electric bikes fast approaching the capabilities of gasoline-powered bikes, they’re also attracting interesting teams. This year’s third-place team was Buckeye Current, from the University of Ohio. Good luck attracting that kind of thinking to your standard roadrace.
Anyway, you can watch McGuinness’s record-setting battery-powered 117.366 mph lap at the TT in the YouTube video below.
Seriously impressive lap.
