Just about every news blog in India is reporting Hero and Erik Buell are working on a 250cc motorcycle, presumably for the Indian market.
Supposedly, this bike will be a single-cylinder machine that will hit market in mid-2014, after being unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Export. It seems, according to Asphalt and Rubber, that The Economic Times broke this story. They wouldn’t name any sources.
Hero and Erik Buell Racing will be working together on the bike, but it seems this’ll be a Hero-branded bike. For now, we haven’t heard any news of an EBR-branded version in North America.
However, according to reports, this machine was developed at EBR’s facilities in the U.S., with Indian engineers working closely with EBR’s crew. Maybe they’ve worked out a bike that will work for both continents? The Economic Times says this bike is part of a plan for Hero to expand globally, so it would make sense to expect it here.
