One traditional objection to using ABS on motorcycles, aside from the cost, is the weight the ABS module adds to a machine.
This is particularly an issue in Europe, where ABS will soon be mandatory on motorcycles over 125 cc. Automotive parts giant Bosch is supposedly working on a project that should make ABS more accessible.
Visordown has dug up drawings of an ABS unit from Bosch’s R&D department in Japan indicating the company is developing a miniature, handlebar-mounted unit.
It looks like the tiny unit is designed to integrate into the brake master-cylinder. The design might shave off a few pounds, but as Visordown points out, it’d probably suffer heavily in a crash.
Thank your lucky stars its not from Lucas….
