American Suzuki has confirmed that they will compete in the AMA Superbike series this year, with six-time champion Mat Mladin riding for Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki and Tommy Hayden running as his teammate.
The team will also include new member Blake Young. All three will ride GSX-R1000s. Current champion Ben Spies will not be with the American Suzuki squad and will likely race in World Superbike this year. Mladin finished last season just behind Spies.
The American Suzuki press release said that after "extensive discussions with AMA Pro Racing, American Suzuki has received clarification of the AMA rules that will see the Suzuki GSX-R1000 sportbike on the racing grid beginning with the opening round in Daytona, Fla., in March."
There had been some doubt that Suzuki would participate this year.
Likely be riding in World Superbike? He was 2nd or 3rd fastest at the last test riding for Yamaha with #19 on his bike.
Yes but will Mladin get nipped by another young gun? :grin Might be Tommy’s turn to shine.
