Numb Bum ice race returns

The gruelling 24-hour Numb Bum ice race will return this year following a brief layover in 2008.

The frigid race takes place at Sandy Beach, northwest of Edmonton, on Feb. 14-15.

It’s part of the 2009 CMRC Alberta ice racing series, which opened with the Jan. 25 six-hour race at Leduc, and continues with six-hour races at Wildwood on Feb. 1, Leduc on Feb. 8, Sandy Beach on Feb. 22, Grande Prairie on Mar. 1, and back to Wildwood for the series closer on Mar. 8.

Classes include Bike Pro Open, Bike Over Novice, Bike Under Novice, and Metal Melisha.
