Realizing that it has millions of cooped-up fans who are quickly losing interest in MotoGP’s off-track tomfoolery, the brain trust at Dorna has unlocked a whole new pile of video content.
The MotoGP website now says its whole archive of past races, going back to 1992, along with documentaries, exclusive interviews and more, is all available for free through VideoPass. No doubt they’ll ask for a credit card and you must cancel or be locked into some sort of contract, but for now, that’s a lot of free racing to watch! Find more details at the MotoGP website.
World Superbike, the other big-money roadracing property under Dorna’s ownership, is also updating its free video content, with a new selection of classic on-track battles published for free fan viewership—more information here. According to the WSB site, “This edition starts in 2004 with the last win of Pierfrancesco Chili. Having gambled on tyre set-up, Chili stormed through the field and hit the front in the closing stages. Two years later and it is The Netherlands that gave Chris Walker his only race win, similarly, coming from last to first.
Race 2 at Monza 2008 was special for many reasons, as Noriyuki Haga took on Ryuichi Kiyonari and Max Neukirchner, whilst in 2013, it was another scintillating scrap for the lead in Race 2. The final race comes from Nicky Hayden’s only victory in Malaysia, with a wet Race 2 at Sepang seeing the rookie American storm to success.” Sounds like good fun to us.
