One of the biggest adventure bike rallies in Canada is teaming up with one of the biggest moto-travel organizations. This spring, La Classique is going to combine with Horizons Unlimited for its season-opening ride!
La Classique is a riding rally based out of Lachute, Quebec. This year, it’s scheduled to run May 17-19. The main attraction is the ADV riding routes (there are four separate routes this year, tailored for your bike and experience level). But there’s lots of other stuff going on. Motorcycle manufacturers (Honda, Harley-Davidson, KTM, Husqvarna, Kove, BMW) have their bikes at the event for test rides; there’s on-site camping (even for camper trailers), and a banquet at the end of the weekend.
Obviously, there’s considerable pre-planning involved with some of these events, and pre-registration is required for the fun stuff. If you think you might want to go, you should check out La Classique’s website here for information on signing up.
The Horizons Unlimited tie-in
This year, the big news is the team-up with Horizons Unlimited. Founded by British Columbia’s Grant and Susan Johnson, Horizons Unlimited is all about educating riders in the ways of global overland travel, with the vast majority of its focus on motorcycling.
We’ve run stories on Horizons Unlimited and their events before (see Zac’s story about his visit to the 2022 Newfoundland meet-up here). While most motorcycle rallies focus on the ride itself, most (not all) HU events are more of a learning experience, with talks from veteran travelers and other knowledgeable people who tell you what you need to know to take off on a trip yourself.
Now, the May 17-19 weekend in Lachute has a double threat: Fun on the street and trails with La Classique, and learning and sharing smarts with HU, which will also be running one of their Travellers Meeting at the same place at the same time. It means there’s something for everyone. For more details, check out LaClassique.ca. Expect this year’s event to be better than ever!
