Kymco is adapting its AK-550 platform into an adventure scooter concept.
The Honda City Adventure debuted at EICMA a while back, then morphed into the X-ADV scooter, but for now, it’s not available to North American customers. Perhaps Kymco sees an opportunity? Maybe not. Either way, the new scooter runs along similar lines
The Kymco C-series machine (that’s all we have for a name) will theoretically be a bit less beastly than that Honda, as it’s running a 550 cc parallel twin engine (rated at 53 hp), instead of the 750 which powers the Honda. Of course, it will have the typical auto transmission that’s generally found on scooters.
Expect to learn more about the new Kymco adventure scooter during the upcoming bike show season.
After exposing me to that artist’s rendering, expect a letter from my barrister.
Let’s hope. Kymco builds solid, reliable (if somewhat boring) machines. It would be nice to see them step up.
