MotoGP testing is underway, the start of full-on racing is next month (the first race is the March 29 weekend in Qatar), and the factory teams are busy unveiling their top riders’ machinery to slavering fans all over the Internet.
It’s a bit of a curious phenomenon, as no fan will ever be able to afford one of these bikes, but hey – whatever gets you excited for racing. Here’s Ducati’s contribution to the effort, their GP15. Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone will run it this year for the factory team; the other Ducati-mounted riders in MotoGP have to make do with GP14s.
The new bike will debut at Sepang later this month. It’s more compact than its predecessor, and has revised aerodynamics (new intake and tail fairing), along with seamless gearbox and upgraded electronics. Maybe this is the year the Ducati team actually sees some success in top-tier roadracing?
