Motorcycle escape: The Elephant Rally

Another year gone by, another Elephant Rally is in the books, and here is the video to prove it.

The Elephant Rally is one of the world’s oldest, with roots going back to 1956.

Held in Germany in January, it started as a gathering for sidecar jockeys but many riders attend on two wheels as well. In fact, it sounds as if things have gotten a bit out of hand in recent years; apparently, attendees had been trailering their bikes in and setting up big pavilions with furnaces for heat – by descriptions, it sounded a bit like Port Dover’s Friday the 13th party. For 2015, organizers cracked down on the partying and brought in a rule stating visitors had to bring in their camping gear by bike.

Here’s a video of someone following the rules and riding to the Elephant on two wheels a few days ago.
