Casey Stoner is returning to MotoGP racing a little earlier than expected, after suffering a broken ankle during practice at Indianapolis.

The Australian racer was expected to return to action at the Australian race weekend at Phillip Island, but now he’s announced on his blog that he’ll be racing at Moteg, the Japanese round in two weeks’ time.

That means Jonathan Rea likely won’t race in MotoGP again this season either, but he’s probably still holding out hope for a return in 2013.

In other MotoGP news, the controversial race at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas seems to be going ahead.

The track announced the event will run April 19-21 at the Texas track. We don’t have any word yet on what Kevin Schwantz thinks about it
