Casey Stoner, last year’s MotoGP champ, proved he’s still at the top of his game yesterday at Sepang.

Stoner took Tuesday off when he strained a muscle before practice. Yesterday in Malaysia, he returned to the first MotoGP test of the season, and was the fastest on Day Two while testing chassis changes for Honda.

It’s not all bad news for the other teams, though – Jorge Lorenzo, the 2010 champ who was fastest on Day One, was still third fastest, and his Yamaha teammate Ben Spies was second, as they tweaked their suspension and electronics systems. Dani Pedrosa was fourth, Cal Crutchlow fifth.

Ducati riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden continue to be impressed by the new GP12 machine, but Hayden’s shoulder forced him to drop out after 16 laps – he’s feeling the aftereffects of a fracture suffered in practice in December.
