Shannonville returns to CSBK calendar

After two years in the wilderness (from the view of the Canadian Superbike series), Ontario’s Shannonville Motorsport Park will once again appear on the CSBK calendar, kicking off the 2016 series on May 27, 28 and 29.

The last time it featured on the CSBK roster was back in June of 2014 after which it was dropped due to its uncertain future as the track was put up for sale. Even though a new buyer has yet to be found, Peter Derry Productions Inc. has stepped up to fill the gap, acting as middleman between current owners and CSBK.

According to a CSBK press release, Derry was looking for an opportunity to expand his business, and build the event into something special. What special actually means has yet to be disclosed but having new blood in the game could be just what is needed with the release suggesting that the weekend will grow beyond just the racing, including some “unique fan activities”.

  1. Great sight lines ! 90% of the track is visible from the grand stands. Have seen some terrific battles there through the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. FAST School operates out there too. I highly recommend it.

  2. No superbikes at shannonville is just silly. It’s one of the original tracks, and is still the best venue in north america to watch as a fan.

Now if someone could market it as a spectator track…money will flow in! Which then allows for better resurfacing more payouts and more bikes on grids

  3. Until the current owner reduces his expectations about what the Park is worth, he’ll never sell it.
The place needs a lot of upgrades, and any new owner would have to face that.
With CTMP (aka Mosport) a viable alternative for larger events I wish Mr. Derry all the best as far as returning CSBK at Shannonville to the status of a ‘go to’ event.
