Nine new models coming from Ducati

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali says the manufacturer will be unveiling nine new models this fall.

For a while now, there have been rumours that Ducati was about to make a big bang, and with this press release, Domenicali confirms it. The question is now, what can we expect?

We already know that one of the bikes will be the Monster 1200 R, which we saw earlier this week. But what else is coming down the line? Some are expecting a Ducati cruiser to hit the market, with more traditional cruiser styling than the musclebike lines of the Diavel. It’s an experiment Ducati has tried before, without a lot of success, but it’s possible.

There have also been rumours that Ducati is building a scooter, but they haven’t been confirmed.

It’s also well-known that Ducati had plans to spin off the Scrambler lineup as its own brand, a sort of bargain entry-point into the world of Ducati. With that in mind, it’ll be interesting to see how the nine new bikes are branded; if they come in as budget models, they could bear the Scrambler logo. Ducati’s usual method is to make each bike faster, more powerful and more exciting than the model before. If they start introducing more models in their budget line, it could signify a cultural shift that seems to be spreading across the world of motorcycle manufacturing.
