Ducati Monster 1200R unveiled

Ducati unveiled their Monster 1200R yesterday at Volkswagen Group Night in Frankfurt, and as they told us it would be, it’s their most powerful naked bike ever.

Ducatista anticipated the new Monster getting the DVT motor from the Multistrada, with variable valve timing. It doesn’t get that motor, instead relying on a 160-hp version of the 11° Testastretta engine.

The bike also gets revised bodywork and an upgraded chassis. Ducati claims the bike has been designed for use on both street and track. There’s Ohlins suspension front and rear, and forged aluminum Marchesini wheels. Wet weight is 207 kg, and the bike will be available in red or black, starting early next year. No Canadian MSRP has been announced yet.

    • Of course, that is the first thing any Monster owner MUST do, is tail tidy/fender eliminator. My last one didn;t leave the dealership with that ugly-assed ducktail.
