The 2023 winter motorcycle show season is upon us! The first Toronto show (the Supershow, out by the airport) ran last weekend, and there are several more coming, across the country. Here’s a quick run-down of a few shows running in Canada this winter, starting with the big ones:
Toronto Motorcycle Show (February 17-19)
This is one of two shows run by the Motorcycle & Moped Industry Council this winter. Traditionally, a large number of manufacturers participate in the MMIC shows. That means you see more new models on the MMIC circuit than you will at the independent shows. Conversely, you generally see fewer club booths, fewer independent vendors, that sort of thing. This year, the MMIC says the Clutch Society section returns, a “one-of-a-kind curated motorcycle exhibit, inspired by the gritty, rugged and raw feel of the home garage.” This show runs at the Enercare Centre in Exhibition Place, and the AutoShow runs over the same weekend, so you can double your gearhead fix, if you want. More details at the show’s website here.
Montreal Motorcycle Show (February 24-26)
The other big MMIC show this winter. Traditionally, the MMIC circuit also stopped at Edmonton, Quebec City, Calgary and Vancouver (and also in Moncton, a few years back). Expect a similar lineup of manufacturers and displays as the Toronto show, but there are always some companies that make one show or the other, but not both. The Montreal show runs at the Palais des congres de Montreal. Find more details at the website here.
Ace Motorcycle Show (January 27-29)
This brand-new show in Vancouver is supposed to appeal to the DIY builder crowd. As the show’s promo says, it will have “all types of custom motorcycles by the surrounding motorcycle communities . The attendees will get to view 60 of the most rarest unique custom one off by builds around.” Or as the Eventbrite page (see here, for more details and tickets) promises: “The inaugural Ace Moto Show will roll into Vancouver January 2023 to celebrate custom motorcycles, racing, and the authentic spirit of life on two wheels. Presented by local caffeine and throttle culture hangout Burnout Café and the Last Caress Moto Shop, the Ace Moto Show will gather tuners, racers, and builders for three days celebrating everything to do with tuning, riding, and living the bike life.”
Move Your Soul Community Motorcycle Show (February 3-5)
With the western MMIC shows all canceled, the Rocky Mountain Section of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycles Group announced this homegrown moto show for Calgary. It definitely won’t be the spectacle that the MMIC show was, but it will give you a chance to get out and see some machines this winter. The show is scheduled to run February 3-5 at New Horizon Mall; see contact deets at the CVMG page here, for more info. There’s also some info here on YouTube.
Motorcycle Powersport Atlantic (March 3-5)
AKA, “The Halifax Show.” Running at the Exhibition Centre on Prospect Road, this show focuses on local dealers and clubs. The show’s website does list quite a few exhibitors this year—see the list here.
Was hoping that with COVID declining, we might see more of these shows back. Nothing of interest in the middle of Canada.
