SBK – Dutch TT Race Results

An unusually processional day of racing at the sinuous Dutch TT course in Assen, Holland produced identical podium results in both races today.  World Championship points leader Jonathan Rea dominated both events to claim a double win aboard his Kawasaki ZX-RR, with Chaz Davies taking both second place positions in the resurgent Ducati Panigale, and local hero Michael van der Mark bringing home both third spots.

The races themselves were exciting and full of passing throughout the early laps, particularly for third place in race 2, but Rea managed to fight off an aggressive Davies to keep the lead.  Van der Mark impressed many with his last lap dive for third.

The Dutch TT is famous for bad weather, which makes negotiating some of the high speed, slightly off-camber turns tricky.  This weekend’s sunshine eliminated that threat.  Nico Terol was the only casualty of the day, being taken to hospital with injuries to his head and knee after crashing his Ducati mid race.
