Here, friends, is why you do not look sideways to film your friend via GoPro while riding down a highway at 140 mph.
Apparently the crash victim (although, can you call him a victim if he’s the author of his own demise?) spent time in a coma after this crack-up, but he’s back on his feet now, and has apparently quit motorcycling.
He wasn’t paying attention and ran into someone. I hope he heals, and I hope he doesn’t get back on a bike for a long time, if ever, unless he changes his attitude towards his own safety and the safety of others.
I’d say there was some “target fixation” on the driver’s part; it looks like there was plenty of time and space to get around the car but he was unable to avoid it. Glad he was ok, it’s a good reminder for the rest of us just how easy it is to have an accident.
I do feel sorry for the guy. Common sense can be hard won sometimes. This whole culture of “sharing” everything on youtube, fb, ect, has led to some incredibly stupid decisions. I’d guess that besides never riding again, he’ll think twice about when and how he uses GoPro. I hope he heals up and can relate to others his bad judgement so it never happens again. But it will.
I just can’t bring myself to feel sorry for this guy. I’m glad he made it though.
Didn’t look like 140 mph to me. Perhaps 140 km/h
Yeah, with the force of the wind your not gonna sit up with a camera on your helmet and turn around in your seat to look at your riding buddy.
