Dunlop has been named the official tire of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship.

Goodyear Canada Inc. (owner of Dunlop) will supply tires for all classes of Canada’s national motorcycle road racing series, replacing Pirelli, which has been the spec tire supplier for the past eight seasons.

Dunlop is also the spec tire supplier to the AMA Pro Road Racing Series in the United States, and enjoy strong involvement with the American-based WERA regional racing series and the Australian Superbike Championship.

As part of the multi-year deal, Pro 6 Cycle Inc. of Etobicoke, Ont., the Canadian Dunlop motorcycle race tire distributor, will handle supply and service for racers on the national tour and attend all rounds of the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship. Pro 6 owner and president Sandy Noce said, “We are excited to once again be a part of Canadian national racing … and are confident in the technical support and experience that Pro 6 Cycle and its staff will bring to the race track.”

In other series news, it has been announced that the RACE group based at Shannonville Motorsport Park will be providing supplementary races from their Sportsman classes at the Shannonville and Mosport rounds. “This is a good opportunity to add something slightly different from the classes offered at most of the CSBK National Rounds,” explained RACE boss Chris Chapelle. “We have provided support event at the Shannonville Nationals in years past … and I think this will enhance the on-track show for the fans at these events.”

The RACE Sportsman’s Class series offers action in three different divisions, with races often combined through waved starts. Machines vary from big-capacity twins down to Honda’s popular CBR125 and CBR250 models.

Further news from RACE is that the opening Regional round May 10-11 will use Shannonville’s Pro track layout, same as scheduled for the first National June 6-8, giving National competitors a chance to try the new Dunlops on the same circuit they’ll be racing on next month.
