Last summer, there were rumours swirling that Valentino Rossi was planning to start his own Moto3 race team. He denied that, saying he was focusing on a race school instead. Now, we’ve got more details on that arrangement.

The new school, dubbed the VR|46 Academy, will train young riders and oversee most aspects of their budding careers. They aren’t just interested in teaching them to corner faster;  they’ve got people on staff to handle their physical training, there are people to help handle their contracts, and people to help with relationships with the actual race teams. All these staff members will be working closely with the individual students to help them achieve the best results for their specific needs.

Initially, the school will be working with six racers. Three racers (Luca Marini, Andrea Migno, Nicoolo Bulega) are in the CEV championship, two are in the Moto3 championship (Romano Fenati and Francesco Bagnaia) and one (Franco Morbidelli) will ride in the Moto2 series.

For now, all the academy’s riders are Italian. There’s no word on whether they plan to work with racers from other countries.
