Scottish-Canadian racer Ben Young has an unexpected sponsor – Tim Hortons.
Young is racing for the Fogi Racing Development Team in AMA Pro GoPro Daytona Sportbike class this season. The 18-year-old from Thornbury, Ont., will be racing in the Daytona 200 March 15-17, and a Tim Hortons in Sudbury is helping him with the expenses.
It sounds a bit odd until you find out the Tim Hortons is run by Gilles Bolduc, a former Canadian roadracer. Bolduc’s Daytona attempt was derailed back in 1986 when engine displacement rule changes left him sidelined. Now, he says he’s living vicariously through Young. He’s followed Young’s progress all the way from his 125cc days.

Can we drop the hyphenated Canadian crap? Thanks.
