It seems the writing is on the wall for Suzuki’s MotoGP program.
The manufacturer missed a deadline Friday to commit to the 2012 program, but that’s just the latest indication of their direction.
The Rizla Suzuki team never even bothered to bring a 1000cc machine to the Valencia tests. They raced a GSV-R 800 against the other manufacturers’ 1000s instead. French rider Randy de Puniet did the testing, as Suzuki’s Alvaro Bautista has left the team for 2012.
GPWeek magazine says Rizla Suzuki’s team boss Paul Denning has emailed team members to tell them the 2012 and 2013 seasons are off, with Suzuki hoping to return in 2014 when their current 1000cc prototype is ready.
