Memorial ride for soldiers

Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan.

A ride to honour Canadian soldiers who
have been killed in Afghanistan is expected to draw more than 1,000 motorcycles
and other vehicles in Vancouver on Saturday.

The Memorial Ride for the Fallen in
Afghanistan was organized by the 3rd Canadian Army Veteran (CAV)
Riding Unit and a Canadian veteran who will ride a motorcycle that’s
been custom-painted with military and patriotic designs.

Cost of
taking part is $20, and money collected will be used to help injured
soldiers and their families, according to an item in the Province newspaper.

Writer Ethan Baron says as
many as 3,000 bikes and other vehicles will depart from Trev Deeley Motorcycles
on Saturday morning, for a cruise out to Hope and Agassiz, then to
the abandoned Canadian Forces base in Chilliwack for an afternoon
memorial service.
