Canadian technician grabs second in Yamaha technical Grand Prix

A Canadian motorcycle mechanic has won second place in Yamaha’s World Technical Grand Prix.

The WTGP pits Yamaha mechanics from around the world against each other in a test of technical ability and customer satisfaction skills. More than 30,000 competitors qualified for the event, and participants from 21 countries took part in the final showdown.

Canadian technician Luke Pakkala made the trip to the final competition at Yamaha’s Japanese headquarters in Iwata, Shizuoka, and took home second place in the Sportbike category — the first ever podium finish for Yamaha Canada at this competition.

When he isn’t off winning competitions, Pakkala works at Oakville Yamaha, so if you’re in the GTA and need some wrenching done on your Yamahammer, maybe that’s the stop to make?
