We knew a new Ducati sportbike was coming at World Ducati Week, and thanks to Asphalt & Rubber and a clever spy snap, we have some more details on the machine now.
The bike itself was on display at World Ducati Week, but under heavy protection — cameras and cell phones were not allowed near the bike, as it’s officially going to debut at EICMA. But despite the security, someone got a snap of the machine, which you can see above (we got it from Asphalt & Rubber who found it on MaxxMoto).
A&R’s Jensen Beeler saw the bike for himself at the Ducati party, and wrote about it here. Here’s a quick summary: Despite the “supersport” label, this ain’t your older brother’s 600 cc sportbike. It’s powered by the , and isn’t fully-faired, although it’s close (like, say, a Kawasaki Ninja H2R). Beeler says the trellis chassis is similar to the Monster platform, the bodywork combines Panigale-like plastics with a Multistrada-style windshield. In short, the bike is almost a throwback to the days when Ducati built sport tourers. Read the rest of Beeler’s observations at Asphalt & Rubber.
Looks a lot like the new Vfr Honda should be making if it still lead the way in motorcycling. Way to go Ducati!!!
Friend of mine who has an ST2 thinks this is hilarious, as they’re apparently re-issuing his bike a decade later!
Yup, its an ST2 with a completely different frame, engine and suspension. 🙂
