If you’ve left your Christmas shopping for your kids, nieces and nephews off ’til the last minute, then shame on you. But, if you get onto Amazon, you still might be able to get out of trouble, by ordering The Big Book Of Motorbikes.
This is an all-new book for 2022, written by Rennie Scaysbrook, with illustrations by Asim Hussain. Wait, Rennie Scaysbrook? The Aussie motojournalist, who won the last-ever Pikes Peak hillclimb in 2019, setting a new course record aboard an Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory? The same guy whose dad, Jim Scaysbrook, was a teammate to legendary TT hero Mike Hailwood?
Yeah, that guy. And, with a background like that, you know this ought to be a good read. It’s a short, 29-page kids’ book, with colour illustrations and all sorts of factoids about bikes. Remember how, when you were a kid, you (or maybe your friends) would get a Guinness Book of World Records under the tree, and then spend days devouring odd factoids? Well, this is the moto equivalent of that.
It’s currently available on Amazon.ca for a super-low $6.17 as a Kindle edition, but almost all of us will want the paperback copy, for $22.20. Buy today, and it still might show up in time for Christmas!
Here’s what Rennie himself says about his book:
“Coming from a bike-mad family, I know the positive effects motorbikes can have on a child’s upbringing. Bikes have been such an integral part of my family, and I wanted to pass that love via fun and informative education onto a new generation of bike riders. With a four-year-old son myself, I know each time I read him a bike book before bed I will have his full attention, so, in a way, it was a selfish little project to make this book!”
