Yamaha is celebrating its 60th anniversary in the world of GP racing with three new anniversary edition models (Yamaha’s first GP was 1961, in France). While they won’t get any performance upgrades, they will get a red-and-white chain block paint scheme, as a throwback to the early days of Yamaha’s MotoGP efforts.

The YZF-R1, YZF-R7, and YZF-R3 will all come in the new livery. They’ll be available in limited quantities, so Yamaha advises placing an order for the anniversary-edition bike before September 30, if you want one. Anniversary edition pricing starts at $22,199 for the R1, $10,799 for the R7, and $6,299 for the R3—more details, including full pricing details and specs, here.

Yamaha also says it’s finally bringing the XMAX scooter to Canada. The XMAX was previously available in Europe; it’s a 400-class scooter, meaning it should have plenty of power for city streets or even highways, if necessary. Traction control and ABS are standard. We wrote up the original XMAX release here. You can see Yamaha’s write-up for the ’22 model here. Pricing starts at $6,999 in Canada.

NEW WORLD GP 60TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION SUPERSPORTS & XMAX SCOOTER!

In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Yamaha’s first-ever entry into a World Grand Prix race, Yamaha Motor Canada is proud to introduce three new World GP 60th Anniversary editions inspired by Yamaha’s historic decision to compete in their first World GP race at the 1961 Grand Prix of France. The same white and red chain block livery recently unveiled on the factory YZR-M1 race bikes at this year’s Official MotoGP™ Test in Qatar will be available on the YZF-R1, YZF-R7, and YZF-R3.

New for 2022, customers can now place an online deposit on any Supersport model to secure their ride for the upcoming season! Due to limited quantities of the World GP 60th Anniversary models, customers wanting to secure their own piece of history will have to do so by placing an online deposit before September 30th, 2021!

Yamaha’s Scooter lineup welcomes the sporty, new XMAX with an exceptional balance of style and function that wont shy away from daily commutes or weekend cruises into the countryside.

Other returning Sport Heritage Models include the Bolt R-Spec and the V-Star 250.
