Custom motorcycles are back on TV, thanks to Esquire

Custom bikes are back on television, but this time, it looks like the show is aimed at hipsters, not chopper fans.

Esquire Network is bringing out a show this fall called Wrench Against The Machine. As the trailer above shows, the builders will be working on very limited budgets ($3,000), and in a very limited time frame (three days). Three judges (noticing a theme?) will then pick a winner.

The producers have lined up some legitimate names to judge this show. Roland Sands, Alan Stulberg (of Revival Cycles and Handbuilt Motorcycle Show), and Michael Woolaway (from Deus Ex Machina) all have the street cred necessary to make this show work.

Given the show’s budget, we’re guessing viewers will see unspeakable things done to vintage Japanese machines, not expensive V-twins. And, the network seems to want ordinary riders for the show, not big-name builders. Will the formula work? Tune in on Nov. 15 to find out.
