Another month, another Guy Martin/Top Gear rumour

Pity Guy Martin. He can’t even have a summer of peace and quiet. After just finishing the Tour Divide bicycle superrace, he’s rumoured once again to be a frontrunner for a hosting spot on Top Gear.

Martin took a year off from the Isle of Man TT to race the Tour Divide under an assumed name this summer. But even though he hasn’t been spotted around the roadracing scene, British bookies are apparently calling him the frontrunner to replace outgoing host Chris Evans on the motoring show Top Gear.  All this, despite the fact Martin previously said he’d been offered the role, and turned it down.

Would he re-consider? The bookies think so, but Martin is his own man, and would probably be just as happy working as a diesel mechanic. Having said that, he might change his mind when he thinks about all the exciting new engines he would have access to as one of the front men of the BBC’s top motoring show.

  1. No one will be able to adequately replace the three guys who were teh previous hosts. This show is a dead man walking.
