Earthquake aftermath: Honda suspends production in Japanese plant

Due to a series of earthquakes, Honda has suspended production at the Kumamoto factory in Japan.

For now, the shutdown at the plant is only until the end of this week, unless repair crews discover more significant damage. The Kumamoto area saw two earthquakes last week, on April 14 and 16, measuring 6.2 and 7 on the Richter scale.

The Kumamoto plant produces several of Honda’s flagship models, including the Gold Wing, the CBR1000RR, and the VT1300. Despite the shutdown, Honda says they don’t anticipate any supply line issues at this point.

  1. The Kumamoto plant produces several of Honda’s flagship models, including the Gold Wing, the CBR1000RR, and the VT1300. Good thing Honda has lots of these models from 2012,13 collecting dust on showroom floors.
They could halt production for the next two years and nobody would notice.
