Indian builds the Scout Sixty

Indian has added another motorcycle to their lineup, the Scout Sixty.

The Scout Sixty is their smallest machine yet, with a 999 cc motor. It’s also their most affordable, with an $10,999 Canadian MSRP.

The Sixty’s motor makes 78 hp and 65 ft-lb of torque, which Indian says is the most powerful in its class. The motor’s origins aren’t clear; it appears to have the same cases as the motor in the 1200 cc Scout, and the same 73.6 mm stroke, so it appears as if they just reduced bore from 96 mm to 93 mm. This is pretty much the same idea that Harley-Davidson’s used for years with their 883 and 1200 Sportsters.

The Scout Sixty weighs around 245 kg dry, roughly the same as its bigger brother (the 1200 has a 244 kg dry weight). It seems the other dimensions are the same as well; seat height is identical at 635 mm, tank capacity is 12.5 litres, etc. You can see all dimensions for the Scout Sixty here.
