Thousands of fans lined the streets of Coriano, a town in central Italy, for Marco Simoncelli’s funeral yesterday.
Simoncelli died when he was struck by fellow riders Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi after he crashed his motorcycle during MotoGP racing at Sepang on Sunday.
His family and many of his fellow racers attended the funeral yesterday, including Rossi, a close friend of Simoncelli’s. Rossi helped push one of Simoncelli’s race bikes behind the coffin as it left the Santa Maria Catholic church.
Along with the mourners gathered at the church, the funeral was also broadcast on screens outside the building and the nearby Misano Adriatico circuit, and also on television.
RIP Marco…
