The Mad Bastard scooter rally is taking place this weekend, with KYMCO and Yamaha presenting demo rides on  Friday.
The Mad Bastards will be departing from the Holiday Inn in Barrie, ON at 4:00 am on Saturday, but you won’t have to get up that early to ride a scooter during the demo rides. Yamaha and KYMCO will begin the demo rides at 2:00 pm on Friday; just bring your valid licence and riding gear.
The main route of the rally is 560 km, with a bonus route bumping the total to 645 km. The bonus route has one “very big hill” that should prove challenging for Straight Jacket class riders (under 50 cc) should they decide to ride it after completing the main route.
You can follow the rally during a live blog that will be available on the homepage of the Mad Bastard Rally website beginning at 2:00 pm on Friday.
Of course, all this madness is not for naught, as money will be raised for the Kids Help Phone charity. The top fundraiser will get a very nice Bulova Precisionist watch, provided by Quality Jewelers Ltd. in Toronto.
Even if you’re not taking part in the rally and you’re in the area, drop by and throw your support behind the riders, and support the charity. Oh, don’t forget to take a ride on a new KYMCO or Yamaha scooter.
