Intermot: Vespa GTS line freshened for 2017

The Vespa GTS line is getting some updates, including a new engine.

Both the Vespa GTS125 and GTS150 are getting the new single-cylinder i-get engine, introduced to (surprise, surprise!) meet Euro4 emissions standards. The crank and top end are new, designed for efficiency. The GTS125 is rated for 12 hp, the GTS150 is rated for 15 hp. From what we understand, valve adjustment intervals have been pushed to a whopping 20,000 km interval, which is very respectable for any machine, and a welcome feature to the frugal Vesparado.

The GTS lineup also gets “stop and start” technology, which shuts the engine off when you’re waiting at a traffic light or similar stoppage, to save fuel.

Aside from the updated engine, bodywork has been revised slightly, and the locking rear seat can be released remotely, if that’s a feature you want …

The upgraded GTS lineup hasn’t appeared on the company’s Canadian site yet, but since the previous model made it here, we assume the latest version will.
