Once again, we used SPOT devices for tracking purposes at this year’s Fundy Adventure Rally in conjunction with Spotwalla, and as a result, you can see the rally unfold virtually.
The SPOT devices track riders via satellite network, letting organizers keep track of points totals and provide emergency assistance if necessary. We wrote it all up here last year, if you’re interested.
After the event, Spotwalla’s head honcho sent us the video link here.
If you know how the rally is arranged, you’ll get the idea: The route is broken up into six legs, and each leg has sections of varying difficulty, which are in turn with a different amount of points, depending on the challenge involved. Watch the animation at that link, and you can see some teams go for the gusto, and others play it safe.
