Guy Martin, Triumph, return to Bonneville

Guy Martin and the Triumph Infor Rocket land speed racer are back at Bonneville this week, trying once again to break the world motorcycle speed record.

Martin and his team have already broken the world speed record for a Triumph motorcycle during an earlier visit to Bonneville this year, but conditions during that visit were not favourable for an attack on the outright record. Now they’re back, with the 1000 hp, dual-engined monstrosity (more than 25 feet long) for another attempt.

The team’s earlier attempts focused on Martin familiarizing himself with steering the bike, and the team is said to have dialed the power delivery back so he could focus on handling. Now that the British roadracing superstar has the hang of riding the bike (or so he claims), he reckons the speed record is in his grasp. Stay tuned — we’ll let you know if he pulls it off.
