Graham Jarvis prevails at Red Bull Romaniacs

The infamous Red Bull Romaniacs off-road challenge ran over the weekend, and once again, Graham Jarvis prevailed in the Carpathian Mountains, taking the overall win.

Jarvis, at age 41, is at a place where even the hunkiest of men are developing a decided “Dad bod,” and thoughts of speed are years behind.

Instead of heading toward his dotage, Jarvis is instead whipping all comers at the world’s toughest off-road events. He did not win Saturday’s final stage, but the lead he’d developed in the previous stages was enough to prevail for a fifth Romaniacs victory. He’d kicked off the final day with an impressive 30-minute gap over the next rider. Watch the Red Bull TV coverage here.

The final day’s win went to Wade Young, who finished third overall. Second overall went to Alfredo Gomez.

After the race, Jarvis acknowledge the speed of the younger racers, but said they were soon going to be the problem of his longtime rival Jonny Walker. In other words, Jarvis knows he’s lucky to still be atop, and he recognizes he can’t stay there forever — but he also didn’t use the “R” word. Surely, retirement is on his mind, though, with comments like that. Will a Dad bod be far away?
