Road rage ends in monster truck-style madness

There are many reasons why a motorcyclist should be courteous to other road users. It’s the friendly thing to do, it helps raise the profile of motorcycling, and most of all, it helps avoid incidents like the one above.

Now, it’s unclear what caused the confrontation to start with, and it’s certain that no matter what you can do, you can’t avoid psychopaths on the highways. But remember, despite the YouTube videos that show wronged motorcyclists somehow besting the cagers who cut them off or otherwise offended them, the reality is what you see above. A car driver is in possession of a weapon weighing thousands of pounds, and no matter who’s in the right, no traffic argument is worth being run over.

The alleged driver of the car is now sitting in jail charged with assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a licence. Hrm, you ask, how’d he lose his licence? Maybe it’s because he has other hit-and-run charges on his record, and spent time in jail …

So. Be smart when you’re on the streets. You never know when the bad driver in the car next to you could be a murderous ex-con with a short fuse.

  1. Glad it appears nobody was seriously hurt and all that, but I must admit part of me enjoyed watching that cruiser and it’s loud pipes (no doubt) get monster-trucked.

    • Not in the slightest. The motorcyclist didn’t run over himself. But remember: Nobody is as concerned about your safety on the road, or can do more to ensure it, than yourself. Apply that as you will.

  2. I’ve been traveling in Europe for a while now and I’m still amazed at how courteous drivers are here and how patient. Stop a car totally blocking traffic to unload luggage- no problem, Lane split through a half mile or 50 feet of traffic to the front – no problem, waiting to turn onto a busy road – no problem, someone will let you in, back a vehicle onto a busy road- no problem…..
NA drivers for the most part need a serious attitude adjustment. Maybe a few less police helicopters and a lot more training would help.

    • In Europe, driving is a hard-earned privilege, the system by which you get your license is vastly different than in north america. NA suffers from a case of over-developed driving entitlement, obliviousness, and simply inexcuseable impatience.
