Lucas Oil launching new motorsports streaming site

That's right, kids - you can take in vintage flat track racing in Alberta this weekend.

Lucas Oil is launching a new video streaming website that focuses solely on motorsports.

The website (www.LucasOilRacing.TV) will launch January 1, and will include motorcycle racing, along with cars, trucks, boats, and whatever else you can strap a motor onto. The channel will archive racing action, but will also have live racing. There will also be behind-the-scenes footage, commentary, pre- and post-race footage, and (shudder) “authentic build shows,” whatever that means. We really, really, hope it doesn’t mean we have to see more of those guys from Orange County Choppers.

Basically, it sounds as if Lucas Oil is preparing to offer something like Netflix for gearheads. There’s no word in their press release as to cost, or as to which motorcycle racing series will be shown; it could be something as limited as NHRA drag racing, or maybe we’ll see Canadian and American superbike racing shown. It’s certainly hard to imagine Dorna running WSB and MotoGP content here.

Their press release says “LucasOilRacing.TV will be available worldwide across multiple digital media players and mobile devices including products by Android, Amazon, Apple, Roku, Smart TVs and through LucasOilRacing.TV on computers. LucasOilRacing.TV is dedicated to continued development of its platform for additional devices including popular gaming consoles.” So, you will be able to watch this content on your smartphone or iPad, along with your computer.
