PEI startup to build custom baggers

Prince Edward Island is the home of Canada’s latest startup motorcycle marque.

An outfit in Charlottetown, PEI, calling themselves Havoc Motorcycles, has announced they’re going to be producing high-dollar baggers, starting with the “Iron Flight: Mike Tyson Special.” This bike is powered by a 2030 cc motor and painted with an airbrushed version of Mike Tyson’s tattoos; Tyson has licensed his name to the company. Each bike will be customized to what the buyer wants — as long as all the buyer wants to change are things like paint, wheels, powder-coating, stereo system, etc.

The people behind the new bike company are listed on their website here. The president and founder is Dr. Jarrod Wiener, a “tenured Professor, Dean, and business consultant.” His VP is Richard Dolan, who’s coming into the business after years of experience in wealth management services and financial planning. Their territory sales executive is Doug Gamble; nowhere does the site say who will actually be constructing the motorcycles. It also doesn’t say where the engine is sourced, but we’d guess it’s an S&S crate motor.

The Iron Flight will set buyers back $67,999 CAD; other models include the Wildcat ($47,999) and the Slayer ($53,999).

Those prices sound high, but don’t forget, about fifteen years ago, rich guys lined up to throw their money at choppers from people like Jesse James and the crew at OCC. There does seem to be a similar growing market for baggers; whether Havoc Motorcycles can capture that market, especially from a base in Prince Edward Island, will be another question.
