Motorcycle manufacturers Ossa and Gas Gas are going to be working together.
While they’re not very common makes over here, both these companies have been in business (and sometimes out of business) a long time. They’re best known for off-road bikes, but Gas Gas has sold street-legal bikes here in Canada as well in recent years.
Now, the two competitors are going to be making motorcycles at the same facility in Spain, says Bikes in the Fast Lane. The reason for the move, of course, is the faltering economy.
The existing Gas Gas plant in Spain’s Girona area will also be building Ossas; they figure production will go up to 15,000 units a year (current production is 9,000) and they’ll be able to keep 200 employees busy (currently, there’s 130 on staff there.
