In typical CMG style what started out as a grandiose plan for a tour of northern Ontario, with a stopover in North Bay to watch Larry win the Vintage Road Racing Association’s final round, turned out to be a quick dash to do a quick test ride and help get Larry drunk so that he could quickly forget that he not only crashed in practice, but broke his ankle to boot!

It seemed like a pretty good comparison. Suzuki had just launched a revamped and boosted capacity Bandit 650, while Kawasaki had just introduced a half-faired, more touring-friendly version of their Z750, the Z750S.

The Thunder Diaries is a chronicle of Team CMG 2's attempt for glory at the newly formed Canadian Thunder Series. The year is 2002, the team consists of Costa Mouzouris and JP Schroeder, and they've got a Buell Firebolt and BMW R1100S respectively.

I have to admit that I've always been fond of the VFR but it never really inspired me enough to think that I actually might one day like to buy one, mainly thanks to a shortage in its character department. Enter stage left, Honda's V-TEC system.

This week we have a write up from temporary Team CMG member Larry Tate, who we managed to get onto a Moto Guzzi V11 for Round three at Shannonville. The Guzzi was courtesy of Pat Doyle at Bavarian Motosports. The idea was to get a viewpoint of the yet unseen other brand eligible in Canadian Thunder.

So this is it - the end of our racing adventure in Canadian Thunder. It was an exciting first year of the new series. Spawned from the old Buell/BMW cup, CMG, Buell and Ducati managed to take the old and make the new Canadian Thunder series.
