Three New KTM 390 ADV Models For 2025… Sort Of

KTM has a whole boatload of new models coming at the EICMA show in Milan this year, and three of the most important bikes will also be three of the smallest machines in their street lineup. The 390 Adventure lineup is being overhauled with new machines that cover a wide range of riding scenarios.

First up, the 390 Adventure R. KTM has confirmed this bike’s existence, and from what their PR says and from the spy shots we’ve seen, we expect this motorcycle will be similar to the current 390 Adventure model. It will probably have cast rims front and rear, with 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear.

The engine itself is probably identical to the 390 Duke, which was updated last year. That means a true 390 with longer stroke boosting displacement (previously, the 390 models were actually 373cc). If it’s tuned the same, the engine will make 44.2 hp and 28.8 lb-ft of torque, similar to the last model, but with that power increasing lower in the rev range.

One of the biggest complaints the KTM fanbase had with the 390 Adventure was that it just wasn’t adventurous enough. They wanted a more offroad-ready version, and judging from spy shots from the recent KTM Adventure Rally in the U.S. (and from other sources before that), it appears that KTM has indeed brought out such a bike. It will be called the KTM 390 Enduro R. It looks like it has a 21-18 wheelset, so it should take a wide range of dual sport tires.

The last new 390 model we see coming is the 390 SMC R—see spy shot here. This will be a supermoto, with cast 17-inch wheels replacing the larger hoops of the Adventure and Enduro models.

All together, a big boost to KTM’s small-bore lineup. If they can keep pricing as low as they did with the first-gen and second-gen 390 models, expect to see a lot more of these bikes on the road in the years to come (and also off-road).
