He’s almost completed his trip, but you should still check out 16-year-old Pavel Filippov’s ride across Canada.

Instead of hanging around his hometown of Sackville, N.B., all summer (also the location of CMG HQ), Pavel is riding across Canada with his father.

No, this isn’t a two-up, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance sort of ride – Pavel is piloting his own Kawasaki KLR650. He figures it will make him the youngest rider to ride a motorcycle across Canada.

But Pavel isn’t just doing this for the fun of it.

Sure, he gets travel Canada and take in majestic views of rocks and trees from Nova Scotia to B.C., but he’s also a man on a mission – he’s trying to raise $10,000 for Doctors Without Borders (aka Médecins Sans Frontières). Read all about it here. As of right now, he’s raised about $3800. You can donate money to his cause here.

Pavel’s been riding motorcycles since he was 14, when he got his scooter licence and started his riding career on a Derbi Bullet.

When he and his dad get to B.C., they’ll crate the bikes up and ship them back, then fly back themselves.

  1. Aw hell. I was at the Terry Fox Memorial in Thunder Bay on July 1. Would’ve been cool to meet you. Keep going! Donation coming this evening when I get home.

  2. Thanks for the story. Just outside Calgary now. Trip is going well, donations not so much. Please donate if you can.

  3. Would have been a better adventure if he was riding his ‘Editorship’s tricked out KLR 650 that we’ve been waiting so long for.
