Triumph, as predicted, has released its updated Speed Triple, now available in an upscale RS edition (seen above) and the standard S edition (seen below).
Like the Tiger 800 and 1200 updates last fall, Triumph’s naked bike didn’t get a radical ground-up revamp,as the new model looks quite similar to the old one. However, it should probably feel quite a bit different, thanks to several key upgrades.
Triumph says the new Speed Triple has 105 new engine parts, including lighter crank and higher-compression head. The result is a new 10,500 rpm redline , which in turn boosts the three-cylinder’s peak output to 150 hp and  86 lb-ft of torque. Frame, brakes and tires are unchanged, but both bikes have fully-adjustable suspension. The Speed Triple S has a Showa fork and shock, and the RS has Ohlins suspension front and rear.
Both bikes also get new switchgear and 5-inch TFT dashes, which is certainly the standard the industry is moving towards. Both bikes also get cruise control and  Rain, Road, Sport and Rider-configurable riding modes, and the RS model also gets a Track mode.
The RS model also gets an Arrow exhaust can, some carbon-fibre bodywork, and leaning ABS. There’s also a keyless ignition.
Pricing for the S and RS models is supposed to be released later this month. You can find other details on the new machines at the Triumph website.
Ah, someone pulled the wool over your eyes, those are both S models. RS has Arrow cans and black, Ohlin’s forks.
No thank you Dean for pointing out your initial error? Tsk, tsk.
Hahaha sorry Dean, I was in a hurry when I loaded it and forgot. They did indeed pull the wool over, as it had been labeled an RS on the site, or so I thought.
Awesome, Triumph is becoming more and more impressive. It’s good to see.
