The Thunder Diaries is a chronicle of Team CMG 2’s attempt for glory at the newly formed Canadian Thunder Series. The year is 2002, the team consists of Costa Mouzouris and JP Schroeder, and they’ve got a Buell Firebolt and BMW R1100S respectively.
The elements that made the standard GS such a charmer have been carried through. It still gobbles up the highway miles with ease, yet can surprisingly give a sport bike a run for its money through the twisties.
So we’ve had the Dakar for a while now, ridden it through some serious off-road stuff , used it as a daily commute and taken it on the annual CMG tour to British Columbia. We’ve racked up 7,000 km and gotten to know the beast quite well.
I double-checked the weather channel and it was confirmed. The sun was wishing us to the south – South Dakota, in fact.
